The Koh Tao Experience
Koh Toa is one of Thailand's best kept secrets. A tiny fleck of lush green valleys, white sandy beaches, secluded coves and bays hidden away in The Gulf of Thailand.
Koh Tau is the place to visit if you are long for relaxation, sun bathing, great snorkeling, spa treatments or
fun filled nights under the stars.
Koh Tao is also a great place for families with it's calm, shallow beaches and bays - a perfect spot for honeymooners with it's romantic getaways.
The Background
Ko Tao was first discovered by backpackers a decade ago. The local islanders looked on in astonishment as hordes of young travelers arrived on longtail boats, fishing vessels and even bamboo rafts to visit the mythical hidden island - way past Koh Phangan - and to go scuba diving in the undisturbed underwater kingdom. Soon small bungalow resorts, restaurants and beach bars opened to cater for these new creatures and today - 10 years later - Koh Tao caters to divers, backpackers, families and anyone in between. Amazingly Koh Tao has managed to keep it's charm, partly because it is still "harder" to get to than it's sister islands but also because of the efforts of the local islanders to keep the island beautiful and police local initiatives such as beach clean ups.
For that reason Koh Tao is a favorite destination for many travelers, a destination they return to again and again - year out and year in.
